About / The founding question
Look beyond
the main route.
Side Street Research exists to investigate the constraints behind price convergence—and the economic scale of the opportunities those constraints may permit.
INDEPENDENTQUANTITATIVE RESEARCH
Efficiency has
a geography.
Information and capital travel through networks of venues, instruments, balance sheets and trading systems. Some pathways are deep and competitive. Others involve financing, access, settlement or implementation constraints.
The name Side Street expresses an inquiry into that structure. It is not an assumption that overlooked or smaller markets are inefficient. A persistent difference may be compensation for risk, a measurement artifact, or an opportunity that disappears when someone attempts to trade it.
Our work asks which explanation survives.
The long-term ambition
A reproducible account of
where economic opportunity
begins—and where it ends.
We aim to connect a taxonomy of market constraints with measures of price discovery, opportunity capacity and execution economics. The value is in a framework that can reject a weak proposition as clearly as it can identify a question worth pursuing.
A foundation
in measurement
and invalidation.
Our initial empirical work concerns short-horizon Bitcoin behavior. It has tested event and direction forecasts, challenged richer models with simple controls, and qualified selected market measurements.
Those studies supply methodological experience. The wider efficiency–capacity thesis remains a research program to be tested across markets, instruments and regimes.
Side Street is an independent initiative being built around this direction. We seek collaborators with the judgment and engineering discipline to turn difficult questions into dependable evidence.
A company.
A research direction.
STREET RESEARCH CONSULTING LTD was incorporated in England and Wales on 27 October 2025. Side Street Research is its trading name and research programme, founded on 21 February 2026.
The programme’s founding date is distinct from the company’s legal incorporation. Its focus is the economics of market efficiency: how information, liquidity, financing and implementation constraints shape observable prices and feasible scale.
